Story of Velaikkaran
Arivu The Generous Man
A man Arivu(Sivakarthikeyan) belongs to Koilaikkara Kuppam a slum in Chennai. He is very king humble and generous person who wants to help other hence he wanted to do things which can uplift his fellow beings so he works very hard to achieve his aim. So to proceed with his work further he started a local radio channel 90.08 with the help of Kasi (Prakash Jha) the local gangster of the area. Kasi is a cruel man who does not have any mercy for anyone. This Arivu’s plan, in reality, to set the people free from Kasi’s wrongdoings and horrible cruelty, and eventually, he gets success to turn the people against Kasi.
Arivu Gets New Job
Now Kasi gets alerts by Arivu’s action here Arivu joins one of the leading FMCG company called Saffron in its sales department where he used to work under Stella Bruce(Thambi Ramaiah). He is accompanied by one of his friend Bhagya( Vijay Vasanth) at job place who was earlier in Kasi’s gang. Adhi(Fahadh Faasil) Saffron brand manager teaches Arivu to work successfully and progress.
Arivu Tries To Attack Kasi
Once at night Kasi on April 1st Kasi and his man stab Bhagya and in that hustle, Arivu to defend himself tries to attack Kasi instantly but one of the Kasi’s old rival Doss attacks Kasi and Arivu reprimand Kasi for being a paid henchman. But Kasi reveals a piece of shocking news to Arivu that he killed Bhagya on the contract given to him by Jayaram(Anish Kuruvilla) president at Saffron because he is helping Kasthuri (Sneha) to file a case against Saffron which claims that Saffron’s food products are adulterated and due to this she lost her son. Kasi tells Arivu that all the food products manufactured at Saffron are adulterated hence Arivu takes it as a mission to fight not only against Saffron but all the leading companies who are involved in such evil things which also includes a company owned by Madhav Kurup (Mahesh Manjrekar).
Arivu Makes A Plan
Arivu shared everything with Aadhi related to his plan Aadhi is the son of Madhav. So he joins Saffron to know the inside dirty secrets and to merge Saffron with his father’s company. Here Arivu manages to convince the staff of the company to manufacture the products as per government rule at least for two years and tell other company staff to wear a handkerchief to on their dresses for coming two days to tricking the owners that the staff turned against them. On the other hand, Aadhi foils Arivu’s plan to force the owners of other companies to write the major part of their shares on Madhav’s company’s name.
Aadhi Tricks the Staff
Aadhi falsely tricks the company staff against Arivu and made them believe that Arivu is working as Madhav’s Spy. After knowing this Stella humiliates Arivu and Aadhi tries to pretend that he is defending Arivu that he is innocent and all this done by the new president of the company. Aadhi set the godown on fire which is full of adulterated products and eventually reveals to Arivu that he is Madhav’s son and he will be the next CEO of the company. He also purposes his amongst staff for new CEO.
Aviru’s Mission Accomplished
On the same da Aviru goes to the Radio Mirchi radio station and reveal that after the incident of fire one of the injured employee tells him that they worked as per government’s rule and regulation for 2 days and continue it on the third day also to make the quality products and they couldn’t bring themselves to manufacture adulterated products and all the employees join him. When Aadhi comes to know that Saffron workers rebelled against him he got very annoyed, frustrate and upset hence all the people in the city support Arivu including people of his slum, area, his dear friend Mrinalini(Nayanthara).

The movie is based on one of the very serious issues the country is facing now is food adulteration. Making a movie on the social issue always attract and pull people toward the theatre to watch it. and this kind of movie sort of educate masses about the evil practices running around them and help them to see and understand how the system has become corrupt. Mohan Raja’s direction is commendable and praiseworthy. Arivu played by Sivakarthikeyan, he is Tamil actor who has work in many fields before joining the Tamil Movie industry. He was a stand-up comedian, playback singer, a television host in many more. After exploring the small screen he appears on the silver screen in 2012 and instantly liked by the masses. Arivu’s character suits his personality as in real life also he is very down to earth and humble person hence his natural qualities helped him to flourish Arivu’s character in the movie and he did more than 100% justice to his role.
Fahadh Fazil is a wonderful actor who started his at the very tender age of 19 years he worked in both Tamil and Malayalam movie industry and gets huge popularity in both the industry. His character in the movie has negative shades but he did the excellent job to take out the dark shades of the character Aadhi.
