You start off as a new owner of an unkept farm land in Stardew Valley. As the newest farmer of Pelican Town, you are tasked with restoring the farm to its former glory through farming, fishing, mining, and gathering of various resources.

There are different machines that you can craft in order to increase your profits and efficiency on the farm. These machines can process your goods, produce useful resources, get you around your farm faster, or even display information. One such machine is the Farm Computer. This device can inform you of various relevant information about your farm at a glance.

The Stardew Valley: How To Get And Use A Farm Computer (3)Farm Computer can only be obtained by crafting it, but you'll first need to unlock its recipe. The recipe is a reward you can receive from Demetrius, after completing either the Aquatic Overpopulation quest or the Biome Balance quest.

The quests you need to unlock the Farm Computer recipe can be found on the special orders board in front of the Mayor's Manor. You'll only be able to access this after the second day of Fall in your first year.

The type of special orders that can be displayed on the board vary from time to time, so you'll need to check in regularly to find the specific one you need.

For Demetrius' requests, he will ask you to help reduce the population of a certain fish by fishing them out of the waters of the valley. For Aquatic Overpopulation, you'll need to catch ten of a given fish. Biome Balance will require you to catch twenty.

You'll have only seven days to complete the quest.

Using Targeted Bait should help you with finishing these special orders. Apart from that, you can also use Stardew Valley: How To Get And Use A Farm Computer (4)Wild Bait or Challenge Bait to increase the number of fish you reel in per catch.

Once you've completed the order, you should receive a recipe for the Farm Computer the next day.

How To Use The Farm Computer

Once you have your Farm Computer, you can place it down on any open space. It will then analyze all the information about the location it is in.

When picking a spot for your Farm Computer, you should take note that it will only display information about the particular location it is in. You will not be able to access information about other areas.

To view the data, simply stand next to the computer and interact with it. A screen will pop up displaying the area being covered and all relevant information.

Placing the Farm Computer down outside your farm will still display similar relevant information, except for 'Pieces of Hay', 'Crops Ready In Greenhouse' and 'Farm Cave Status'.

One great way to use the Farm Computer is for hunting foraged items. Place one down in any area of the valley, and you'll be able to see if there is anything you can forage in the area.

This is especially useful for completing requests that require specific foraged items.
