Re: Looking into MFT/OM-1, but...? (Sony user)

Recently I have become more interested in getting a MFT camera, the OM-1 specifically. After my trip to Japan I came to realise what a camera means to me. I love taking pictures but the experience as a whole has to be complete for me. That includes liking my camera. I currently use a Sony A7IV which I bought last november.
why did you decide to buy it?
Up until now I haven't had a moment yet where I thought that using this camera was truly a fun experiece. Something I am genuinly sad about,
Enter the OM-1. I follow a few photographers who use this camera or the newly released OM-1 mkii and it looks so much fun to use.
Are these YouTubers or friends? There are many people having fun with the a7iv, yet you didn’t.
either rent or try at the local store.
The features of the camera are so compelling for landscape photography and wildlife, even though the AutoFocus may be a little bit behind Sony(?). The build quality looks fantastic; it's robust, weather proof and it can take a hit. It just feels like the camera has so much character. Pair it with lightweight option lensens for wildlife and it just sounds as a golden combo.
Using my Sony A7IV + 24-105 F4 lens felt sluggish, roughly 1.4 kg kilos hanging around your neck all day. I got a brief moment to experience the camera of my wife who has a much lighter setup and it was a breeze. She also uses Sony, a small A7C camera.
Looking at the equivalent lens I could use on the OM-1 (12-45 mm F/4) I would have had around 850 grams hanging around my neck. As for wildlife the options look good as well with lightweight options in the 100-400 mm and the 300 mm prime, which are much lighter than their Full Frame equivalents. But there is a catch. I see so much talk about MFT being dead or OM System just being a milk cow destined to become bankrupt.
It might or might not happen. how will this affect you?
If you buy the set you want it will last long long time,
I am sadly fairly susceptible for such talk. MFT users are probably pretty tired of this by now.
The enthousiasm I feel for using an OM-1 is greatly tempered by all this talk.
ignore those post?
I would rather not buy into a system destined to be gone in a few years. It's of course hard to tell but how much of this is actually true?
100% true, 0% true, other ..
What would you suggest me to do? I would love to hear it.
You will need to try to find out, it might not be fun to you like it is for other people (like the a7iv).
