Otter Experiences - Animal Experiences At Wingham Wildlife Park In Kent (9)

This truly exciting animal experience takes place with our Otters – a species that lives in freshwater habitats such as peat swamps, forest rivers, rice paddies and lakes.

Smooth Coated Otters are highly intelligent animals and, as a result, enjoy regular attention and stimulation, which is why we love to run activities like our Otter Experience! They are also very sociable animals, which allows for a great opportunity to meet them up close and personal, whilst getting involved with their care and enrichment activities.

As part of our Otter experience you’ll be able to help two of our keepers with the Otters’ daily activities, and really immerse yourself into the life of an Otter keeper by seeing what the keepers do everyday.

The experience lasts around 20 minutes and involves their daily feeding and training routine, where you’ll get to help show the Otters what to do with their target and give them commands which help with our basic health checks. This will mean you’ll be able to see how they behave and interact with each other to help find food and treats, which usually includes foods such as fresh fish.

Please note that this experience takes place outside of the enclosure and there will be no contact with the animals, for the health and safety of both you and the Otters. However, the experience will still be truly exciting and educational, and something that the general public can’t partake in. Our keepers will share lots of insider information and experiences with you, so there’s lots to learn!

As part of your experience ticket you will also receive day entry to Wingham Wildlife Park, where you can explore the incredible array of different animals that call our park home.

To book this once in a lifetime experience, you can call us on 01227 720836 or book online (please note, this will open a new tab and take you to an external page). Don’t forget to check out our dedicated Otter information page if you want to learn to more about these furry creatures before your visit.

  • By booking this experience you agree to our experience terms and conditions.
  • This experience can only be once per day at 12:00.
  • This experience is available for people aged 12 and over.
  • 12- 15 year olds must be accompanied to the park by a responsible adult.

Otter Experience

Somebody bought me an Otter Experience for my birthday. We travelled from Essex and it was well worth the journey. The two ladies who ran the experience were really lovely and made me feel quite calm as I was a bit nervous. The otters were fantastic and I really enjoyed the experience. I’d go back again 🙂
