One transported to hospital following house fire in Middletown
THANK YOU. RANDI COMING UP ON 602. LET’S GET BACK TO THAT BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING. A SERIOUS HOUSE FIRE IN MIDDLETOWN. IT HAPPENED ON MANCHESTER AVENUE AND IT JUST STARTED SHORTLY BEFORE FIVE THIS MORNING. AND THAT’S WHERE WE FIND WLWT NEWS FIVE’S GIACOMO, LUCA AND GIACOMO. YOU ACTUALLY SPOKE WITH A WOMAN THAT LIVES IN THAT HOME. YEAH, WE SPOKE WITH HER. SHE SAID THAT SHE LIVES HERE WITH HER TWO ADULT CHILDREN, A SON AND A DAUGHTER. HER DAUGHTER LIVED UPSTAIRS WHEN WE ARRIVED ON SCENE, WE SAW SMOKE BILLOWING OUT OF THE TOP OF THE ROOF, AS WELL AS IN THE REAR OF THE HOME. IT LOOKS LIKE AT THIS POINT, FIREFIGHTERS HAVE GOT THE FIRE ITSELF UNDER CONTROL, BUT OBVIOUSLY SERIOUS DAMAGE IS INSIDE. WE DID SPEAK AGAIN WITH THE PERSON. THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE INSIDE THE HOME. HERE’S WHAT MARY KING HAD TO SAY EARLIER THIS MORNING. I WAS SITTING IN THE LIVING ROOM AND MY SON WAS IN HIS ROOM, AND HE CAME OUT AND SAID, MOM, MY ROOM IS ON FIRE. AND I GO IN THERE AND WE’RE TRYING TO GET IN THERE, BUT THE SMOKE WAS JUST SO BAD THAT WE COULDN’T STAY IN THERE AND WE LET THE DOGS OUT. BUT I DIDN’T GET THE CATS. IT’S UNCLEAR RIGHT NOW WHAT THE STATUS OF HER DAUGHTER IS. WHO WAS LIVING UPSTAIRS. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, AND WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOSPITAL. AGAIN, NO WORD ON WHETHER OR NOT SHE WAS INJURED, BUT HER MOTHER TELLS US THAT SHE HAS HEALTH PROBLEMS, SO THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A CONCERN AS WELL. SHE EXPLAINED HOW THE HOUSE, FILLED WITH SMOKE AND THE FAMILY RAN OUT. STILL WORKING TO GET INFORMATION FROM FIREFIGHTERS THIS MORNING ON WHAT MAY HAVE LED TO THIS FIRE AND WHAT REALLY THE STATUS ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOME IS, AS WELL AS SOME PETS THAT WERE INSIDE, THE MOTHER SAID CATS WERE INSIDE THE HOUSE.
