Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Assistant Director of the CTP Program reports to the Directorof the CTP Program and is responsible for facilitating the designand implementation of programmatic and administrative policies in anewly developing Inclusive Postsecondary Education Program at theUniversity of North Carolina Wilmington ( UNCW ). UNCW is a publicuniversity with an enrollment of 18,000 students and is one of 17institutions in the UNC System.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education and one year of experience or abachelor’s degree and equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectualdisabilities.
  • Experience in leadership or supervisory roles.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Opportunity Act, and policiesassociated with providing fully inclusive postsecondary educationprograms for students with intellectual disabilities.
  • Familiarity with educational databases and reportingtools.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and creativeproblem-solving skills.
  • Participation in state and national professional organizationsfor higher education and intellectual disabilities.

  • Providing academic, career, and independent living instructionon a college campus through a collegiate experience for individualswith intellectual disabilities, to prepare for futureemployment.
  • Prioritizing inclusion to the fullest extent possible in campuslife and activities with appropriate and necessary support servicesavailable.
  • Creating and promoting an environment that fosters diversityand inclusion.
  • Supporting the Division of Student Affairs and UNCW StrategicPlan and Priorities.
