2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament Regionals Scores, Bracket, Live Updates (2024)

It’s going to be difficult to outdo day one of the NCAA Tournament.

The first day of regionals is off to a wild start. We’ve seen walk-offs, upsets, several near-upsets and more.

Below, Baseball America’s Peter Flaherty is tracking the biggest developments in every regional. Buckle up!

Athens Regional

Saturday Games

3. Georgia Tech (4) vs. 4 Army (2), Army eliminated

Georgia Tech doubled up Army 4-2 to end the Black Knights’ season. Star freshman Drew Burress and John Giesler both hit home runs in the bottom of the first to get the scoring started, while Mike Becchetti delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning to give the Yellow Jackets all the offense they would need. Aeden Finateri (6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K) turned in a quality start, and the late-inning duo of Riley Stanford (2 IP) and Tate McKee (1 IP) slammed the door with three-straight shutout innings.

1. Georgia (11) vs. 2 UNCW (2)

Georgia tonight came out with a much different energy than it did yesterday against Army. It wasted no time getting going thanks to a Corey Collins mammoth home run in the bottom of the first, and Kolby Branch hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Kolten Smith struggled with control, but the trio of DJ Radtke (2 IP), Josh Roberge (2 IP) and Christian Mracna (1 IP) picked him up with five-straight shutout innings. The Bulldogs tomorrow have a chance to secure their first super regional berth since 2008.

Friday Games

No. 1 Georgia (8) vs. No. 4 Army (7) — 1 p.m. ET

It was the furthest thing from easy, but Georgia—by the skin of its teeth—held on to beat Army 8-7. The Bulldogs were punched in the mouth early and trailed 4-1 in the third after a pair of two-run home runs courtesy of Chris Barr and Coleman Titus. Georgia chipped away and eventually took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to a Slate Alford two-run double and a Dylan Goldstein sac-fly, but Army scored a pair of runs in the top of the eight to re-tie the game. In the bottom half of the inning, Fernando Gonzalez delivered what turned out to be the game-winning sac-fly, as Christian Mracna fired a shutout ninth inning to slam the door.

No. 2 UNC-Wilmington (9) vs. No. 3 Georgia Tech (0) — 7 p.m. ET

UNCW scored four runs in the second and five in the eighth in its shutout victory over Georgia Tech. Catcher Bryan Arendt crushed a grand slam to get the scoring started, while the Seahawks eventually tacked on a handful of key insurance runs thanks to a pair of two-run knocks courtesy of Kevin Jones and veteran Jac Croom. RJ Sales was magnificent in his start and spun 7.1 shutout innings in which he scattered just three hits and notched six strikeouts.

Bryan-College Station Regional

Saturday Games

2. Louisiana (12) vs. 4 Grambling (5), Grambling eliminated

Louisiana jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and coasted to a 12-5 win over Grambling. It was a balanced attack offensively for the Ragin’ Cajuns, who saw eight different hitters collect at least one knock and six different drive in at least one run. Potential top-50 overall pick Kyle DeBarge led the charge, going 2-for-6 with a team-high three RBIs.

1. Texas A&M vs. 3. Texas — 9 ET

Friday Games

1. Texas A&M (8) vs. 4. Grambling (0)

Texas A&M cruised to a shutout win over Grambling thanks to a seven-run second inning. Five different Aggie hitters drove in at least one run, led by Ted Burton who went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. On the bump, four different arms combined for the shutout.

2. Louisiana (5) vs. 3. Texas (12)

Texas went down 2-0 early, but scored 10 unanswered runs between the fourth and fifth innings and cruised the rest of the way. Jalin Flores delivered the biggest swing of the game for either team, as in the fifth inning he blasted a grand slam to blow the game open. In addition to Flores, Rylan Galvan (1-for-3, two RBIs), Will Gasparino (2-for-5, two RBIs) and Dee Kennedy (1-for-3, three RBIs) combined to drive in seven runs.

Chapel Hill Regional

Saturday Games

3. Wofford (5) vs. 4 Long Island (2), Long Island eliminated

In a game between two teams who last night suffered heartbreaking walk-off losses, Wofford prevailed 5-2. The Terriers tallied just five hits, but three of them drove in a run. Righthander Zac Cowan—who coming into today had logged 104 innings this season—fired six shutout innings and earned his 10th win of the season. Wofford tomorrow will take on either LSU or North Carolina.

1. North Carolina (6) vs. 2 LSU (2)

Following a thrilling walk-off win last night, it was all business today for the UNC who prevailed 6-2 over LSU. With the game tied at zero in the bottom of the fifth inning, potential top-20 overall pick Vance Honeycutt ambushed a first-pitch fastball and hit a three-run home run over the netting in left field. The Tigers trimmed the lead to 3-2 after a pair of bases-loaded walks, but Honeycutt in the seventh hit a solo home run—this one against a breaking ball—to give the Tar Heels a massive insurance run. Dalton Pence was nails in relief and twirled 2.2 shutout, hitless innings to notch his seventh save this season.

Friday Games

1. North Carolina (11) vs. 4 Long Island (8)

It was a lot harder than almost everyone anticipated, but North Carolina scored six runs in the ninth inning to walk-off Long Island 11-8. The Tar Heels started off slow, but appeared to have overcome their early-game sluggishness with a three-run sixth inning. However, Long Island went on to score four runs—all of which came with two outs—in the top of the ninth inning to take an 8-5 lead. With how deflating the top-half of the inning was for the Tar Heels, a comeback seemed unlikely. They did exactly that and after an Alberto Osuna RBI single and a Luke Stevenson bases-loaded walk, freshman Gavin Gallaher walloped a walk-off grand slam deep into the Chapel Hill night.

2. LSU (4) vs. 3. Wofford (3)

There was no shortage of excitement in the first game of today’s slate. Wofford carried a 3-1 lead into the eighth inning, but LSU stormed back to tie the game in the bottom of the frame after a pair of solo homers from Michael Braswell and Jared Jones. An inning later, Steven Milam–who homered earlier from the right side of the plate–blasted a walk-off homer from the left side to help LSU win 4-3. They’ll face the winner of North Carolina or Long Island in the winner’s bracket.

Charlottesville Regional

Saturday Games

3. St. John’s (10) vs. 4 Penn (9), 12 innings, Penn eliminated

After playing 10 innings last night, St. John’s this afternoon outlasted Penn 10-9 in 12 innings. The Red Storm carried a 6-2 lead into the top of the seventh inning, but the Quakers bats exploded for seven runs on five hits to take a 9-6 lead. St. John’s trimmed Penn’s lead to 9-8 in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a Jackson Tucker two-run home run before Jimmy Keenan blasted a game-tying long ball with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Sam Mettert and Jed Boyle fired two shutout innings apiece in relief to keep Penn’s offense at bay, and in the bottom of the 12th Anthony Brienza played the hero with a walk-off single.

1. Virginia (5) vs. 2 Mississippi State (4)

For the second time in as many days, Virgina received excellent pitching from its bullpen en route to a key victory over Mississippi State. The Bulldogs—thanks to a Hunter Hines mammoth three-run home run—carried a 4-2 into the seventh inning. With one out in the bottom half of the inning, freshman Eric Becker grounded a game-tying, two-run single up the middle to give the Cavaliers plenty of life. Fellow freshman Matt Augustin struck out four across 2.2 shutout innings to keep the game tied before Bobby Whalen delivered a walk-off fielder’s choice.

Friday Games

1. Virginia (4) vs. 4. Pennsylvania (2)

Virginia opened up tournament play with a hard-fought 4-2 win over Pennsylvania. Henry Godbout supplied the biggest swing of the day, as in the second inning he blasted a three-run home run. The Quakers scored a pair of runs in the fourth, but Chase Hungate was able to slam the door with three shutout innings in which he allowed just one hit and collected four strikeouts.

2. Mississippi State (5) vs. 3. St. John’s (2), 10 innings

Mississippi State took down St. John’s 5-2 in extra-innings to set the stage for a showdown against Virginia. Following a Logan Kohler two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning and a Marty Higgins two run single in the top of the fourth, the score remained deadlocked at two until the 10th inning. Myself—and probably a lot of people watching—thought Amani Larry delivered a walk-off, two-run home run, but Garrett Scavelli leapt up and made a spectacular catch at the wall to rob Larry. With two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the 10th inning, Dakota Jordan caught a fastball deep in the zone and muscled a walk-off, three-run home run over the right field wall to propel the Bulldogs to victory.

Clemson Regional

Saturday Games

2. Vanderbilt (9) vs. 4 High Point (10), Vanderbilt eliminated

Following a rather uninspiring loss yesterday, Vanderbilt today jumped out to a 5-0 lead with staff ace Bryce Cunningham on the mound. The Commodores appeared to be on track for a comfortable win, but High Point exploded to score nine unanswered runs between the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-5 lead. Vanderbilt threw a haymaker of its own in the form a four-run eighth inning to tie the game, which is where the score stood until the bottom of the ninth inning. Following a costly error by RJ Austin to lead off the inning, Miggy Echazarreta dumped a walk-off single into right field to eliminate the Commodores and lift the Panthers to their first regional win in program history.

1. Clemson (4) vs. 3 Coastal Carolina (3)

Clemson came out on top in what was a back-and-forth, extremely hard fought game. Both teams traded blows throughout, but Cam Cannarella delivered the decisive sac-fly in the top of the ninth inning to give the Tigers the lead for good. Stud freshman righthander Aidan Knaak spun yet another quality start to the tune of two runs and six strikeouts in as many innings, while Austin Gordon struck out a pair in a perfect ninth inning. With a win tomorrow, Clemson would head to its first super regional since 2010.

Friday Games

1. Clemson (4) vs. 4. High Point (3)

High Point gave Clemson all it could handle, but the Tigers prevailed with a 4-3 win in walk-off fashion. At the end of the sixth inning, the game was tied at 3 and Clemson had already erased two separate High Point leads. The Tigers were unable to get anything going in both the seventh and eighth innings, but Tristan Bissetta in the bottom of the ninth—after a Blake Wright lead-off double—laced a walk-off single passed the outstretched glove of High Point’s second baseman. Clemson tomorrow will take on Coastal Carolina in what should be a great game.

2. Vanderbilt (3) vs. 3. Coastal Carolina (13)

Coastal Carolina scored five runs in the second inning and didn’t look back en route to a commanding 13-3 win over Vanderbilt. Five different Chanticleer hitters drove in multiple runs, led by Zack Beach and Derek Bender who had three RBIs apiece. Riley Eikhoff spun a quality start, allowing one run on four hits across six innings.

Corvallis Regional

Saturday Games

3. Nicholls (0) vs. 4 Tulane (3), Nicholls eliminated

Tulane shut out Nicholls 3-0 to end the Colonels’ season. The Green Wave got on the board in the second thanks to an RBI groundout and that was all the offense they would need. Luc Fladda was sensational in his start and spun a season-high eight shutout innings, while Jacob Moore sealed the victory with a spotless ninth.

1. Oregon State vs. 2 UC Irvine — 7 ET

Friday Games

1. Oregon State (10) vs. 4. Tulane (4)

Tulane carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, but a Gavin Turley grand slam broke the game open for Oregon State who from that point forward outscored the Green Wave 10-1. Turley’s grand slam was the biggest blow, but potential No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana provided the exclamation point in the eighth inning with a no-doubter that cleared the bleachers in right-centerfield. Yesterday’s results set the stage for an intriguing winner’s bracket matchup between the Beavers and Anteaters.

2. UC Irvine (13) vs. 3. Nicholls (12)

Okay, you can go ahead and throw my earlier statement about how the Arkansas-SeMo was the “most wild” game of the day completely out the window. In what was actually the craziest game of the day, UC Irvine walked off Nicholls 13-12. It was all Anteaters early on, as by the fifth inning they had built up a 9-1 lead. However, the Colonels gradually chipped away and eventually took a 12-11 lead in the top of the ninth on an Edgar Alvarez—who ranks eighth nationally with a .411 average—blasted a go-ahead, three run home run. In the bottom half, UC Irvine loaded the bases with two outs after a costly error and Caden Kendle laced a walk-off, two-run single through the right side.

Fayetteville Regional

Saturday Games

4. Southeast Missouri (9) vs. 2 Louisiana Tech (3), Louisiana Tech eliminated

Southeast Missouri caught Louisiana Tech at an opportune time, as the Bulldogs earlier had to complete last night’s suspended game. The Red Hawks took control of the game with a seven-run fourth inning that was punctuated by a Josh Cameron grand slam—his second home run of the tournament. On the mound, Brian Strange allowed three runs across 6.2 innings and Payton Lawrence slammed the door with two shutout frames.

1. Arkansas vs. 3 Kansas State — 9 ET

Friday Games

1. Arkansas (17) vs. 4. Southeast Missouri State (9)

In what has been the most wild game today so far, Arkansas defeated Southeast Missouri 17-9. The Razorbacks appeared to be on their way to a comfortable win after jumping out to an 8-0 lead, but Southeast Missouri stormed back to tie the game after scoring four runs in both the third and fifth innings. Arkansas took the lead for good in the fifth thanks to back-to-back solo home runs courtesy of Wehiwa Aloy and Kendall Diggs, and then tacked on additional seven runs between the seventh and eighth innings. Ben Mclaughlin (3-for-5, two home runs, six RBIs) and Hudson White (2-for-4, two home runs, five RBIs) combined to drive in 11 runs. Christian Foutch (0.2 IP), Gabe Gaeckle (3 IP, 1 ER), and Jake Faherty (1 IP) combined to allow just one run across the final 4.2 frames.

2. Louisiana Tech (4) vs. 3. Kansas State (19)

It was all K-State in this one, as it took down Louisiana Tech in emphatic fashion. The Wildcats built up a 9-4 lead by the end of the fifth inning before the game was suspended last night, but they piled on 10 more runs this afternoon. Kaelen Culpepper hit for the cycle—the first K-State player to do so since 2014—and had four RBIs, while Chuck Ingram went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. The bullpen trio of Cole Wisenbaker (0.2 IP), Blake Dean (2 IP) and Josh Wintroub (2 IP) combined to throw 4.2 consecutive shutout innings.

Greenville Regional

Saturday Games

1. East Carolina (7) vs. 2 Wake Forest (6), Wake Forest eliminated

When the Greenville was announced, a lot of people—myself included—projected an eventual matchup between East Carolina and Wake Forest. What almost nobody saw coming, however, was a Saturday afternoon tilt between a pair of 0-1 teams. The first-half of the game was a pitchers duel between two of the premier pitching prospects in this year’s draft, Chase Burns and Trey Yesavage. Following a game-tying double from Ryan McCrystal, Dixon Williams punished a Chase Burns hanging slider off the scoreboard in right-centerfield for a 426-foot, three-run home run. The Pirates held onto their 4-1 lead—due in large part to an excellent start from Yesavage (7.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 6 K)—until the ninth inning.

The Demon Deacons took advantage of a handful of free bases and scored five runs in the inning to take a 6-4 lead. The Deacs opted for righthander Michael Massey to begin the bottom half of the inning, but the Pirates chased him from the game after four-straight singles to tie the game. Following a fielder’s choice, Luke Nowak grounded a walk-off single through the right side to lift ECU to a thrilling victory. Wake Forest is the first preseason No. 1 team since Florida in 2021 to not make it to the College World Series.

3. VCU (11) vs. 4 Evansville (17)

Riding the high of yesterday’s upset win, Evansville out-slugged VCU to move within one win of its first super regional appearance in program history. The final score is closer than the game was, as by the bottom of the fifth inning the Purple Aces had jumped out to a commanding 13-0 lead. Four different Evansville hitters blasted home runs, headlined by a Brent Widder grand slam. Its lineup pounded out 16 total hits and eight different hitters registered at least one knock.

Friday Games

1. East Carolina (1) vs. 4. Evansville (4)

In what was the first real upset of the tournament, Evansville knocked off East Carolina 4-1 behind stellar pitching and defense. Ty Rumsey and Mark Shallenberger both made outstanding plays in the outfield, while at the plate Brent Widder went 2-3 with a two-run single in the ninth inning. Freshman lefthander Kenton Deverman was fantastic in his start and allowed one run on three hits across eight innings. All of a sudden, ECU is just one loss away from its season coming to a disappointing end.

2. Wake Forest (0) vs. 3. VCU (1)

In a game that had just six total hits and one extra-base hits, VCU came out on top 1-0. Cooper Benzin provided the extent of the offense, as in the fifth inning he lined a sac-fly into left field to break the scoreless tie. The real story, however, was VCU’s Christian Gordon. The senior lefthander spun the best start of his career, firing 7.2 shutout innings in which he allowed only two hits, one walk and collected 13 strikeouts. The Demon Deacons put runners on first and second with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Brian Curley set the next three hitters down in order to slam the door. Wake Forest will take on ECU tomorrow in an elimination game where we are likely to see a premier pitching matchup between Chase Burns and Trey Yesavage.

Knoxville Regional

Saturday Games

2. Southern Miss (6) vs. 4 Northern Kentucky (0), Northern Kentucky eliminated

Niko Mazza spun a complete-game shutout in which he allowed just two hits—both of which were singles—to propel Southern Miss to a crucial win over Northern Kentucky. Davis Gillespie (3-for-5) and Braden Luke had two RBIs apiece to pace the Golden Eagles’ offense.

1. Tennessee (12) vs. 3. Indiana (6)

Tennessee put a stranglehold on the Knoxville regional with a resounding 12-6 win over Indiana. This one got out of hand quick, and by the bottom of the third inning the Volunteers and their prolific offense had jumped out to a 9-0 lead thanks to a trio of long balls courtesy of Dean Curley, Christian Moore and Billy Amick. What makes this win more impressive for Tennessee is the fact that Drew Beam (3.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R) didn’t have his best stuff, but it still cruised to a victory. Southpaw Andrew Behnke shined in relief for the Vols and fired 3.1 shutout innings.

Friday Games

1. Tennessee (9) vs. 4. Northern Kentucky (3)

Northern Kentucky’s high-powered offense came out swinging—literally—as on the third pitch of the game Cleary Simpson lifted a home run out to right-centerfield to give the Norse an early lead. Their lead would be short-lived, as the Volunteers built up a 6-1 lead by the end of the fourth inning. Billy Amick, Dylan Dreiling and Hunter Ensley all hit home runs to lead the offense. Sidewinder swingman AJ Causey was again outstanding in relief, and across 6.2 innings he struck out nine and allowed two runs.

2. Southern Mississippi (4) vs. 3. Indiana (10)

The Hoosiers hit the ground running in Knoxville and scored two runs in the first inning and three in the second. They led 8-0 by the end of the fifth, and the result of the game was never really in doubt. Brock Tibbitts (four RBIs) and Morgan Colopy (three RBIs) combined to drive in seven of Indiana’s 10 runs, while on the bump Ty Bothwell turned in a strong start and allowed two earned runs with nine strikeouts across 5.2 innings.

Lexington Regional

Saturday Games

2. Indiana State (6) vs. 4 Western Michigan (4), Western Michigan eliminated

Indiana State bounced back from yesterday’s tough loss and took care of business against Western Michigan. The Sycamores threw a haymaker in the form of a four-run first inning, highlighted by a Mike Sears two-run double. Randal Diaz in the second inning hit a solo home run to stretch their lead, and that was all the Sycs’ needed. Cam Edmonson was fantastic in relief, as across 4.2 innings he struck out four and allowed just one earned run.

1. Kentucky (6) vs. 3 Illinois (1)

There was a lot less stress today than yesterday for Kentucky, who cruised to a 6-1 win to move within one victory of its second-straight super regional appearance. Ryan Nicholson (1-for-3) and Ryan Waldschmidt (3-for-5, double, three RBIs) both hit two-run home runs to lead the charge offensively. Trey Pooser fired seven innings of one-run ball in which he collected four strikeouts. The Wildcats tomorrow will take on No. 2 seed Indiana State.

Friday Games

1. Kentucky (10) vs. 4. Western Michigan (8)

It was neither easy nor flashy, but Kentucky built up an 8-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning and held on to beat Western Michigan 10-8. Western Michigan scored five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, but Robert Hogan was nails in relief for the Wildcats and notched four strikeouts across 3.1 innings to slam the door. The Broncos loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth, but Hogan induced a fly out to left to end the game. Kentucky’s offense was led by James McCoy, who went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and an RBI double.

2. Indiana State (1) vs. 3 Illinois (4)

The regular-season Big Ten champions earned a hard-fought win to set up a winner’s bracket date with Kentucky. Drake Westcott (2-for-4) paced the offense with a double and a two-run single, but the story of the day was the Fighting Illini’s pitching. Starter Jack Crowder allowed just one run on three hits with five strikeouts across eight innings, while Joe Glassey sealed the victory with a perfect ninth inning.

Norman Regional

Saturday Games

2. Duke (6) vs. 4 Oral Roberts (2), Oral Roberts eliminated

Duke used a four-run sixth inning to propel itself to a win over Oral Roberts. Both Chase Krewson and Wallace Clark hit RBI doubles, while graduate transfer Jimmy Evans hit a two-run home run—his first of the season. It was a group effort on the mound for the Blue Devils and three different arms turned in scoreless appearances.

1. Oklahoma vs. 3 UConn — 9 ET

Friday Games

1. Oklahoma (14) vs. 4. Oral Roberts (0)

Oklahoma picked up a commanding shutout win over last year’s Cinderella team, Oral Roberts. It was a balanced, relentless attack for the Sooners offensively as nine different hitters collected at least one hit, while seven different drove in at least one run. Kyson Witherspoon (6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 9 K) and Carter Campbell (3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K) combined for the shutout.

2. Duke (1) vs. 3. Connecticut (4)

UConn received timely hitting an excellent pitching en route to a huge tournament-opening win over Duke. After both teams traded blows in the first inning, the Huskies took the lead for good in the sixth on a Ryan Hyde two-run single. On the mound, both Ian Cooke (5.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 4 K) and Braden Quinn (3.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K) were excellent. UConn awaits the winner of Oklahoma and Oral Roberts, while Duke will take on the loser.

Raleigh Regional

Saturday Games

3. James Madison (8) vs. 4 Bryant (1), Bryant eliminated

James Madison cruised to an 8-1 win to keep its season alive. The Dukes didn’t pull away until the bottom of the eighth inning in which they scored four runs, but the result of this one never felt in doubt. Five different Dukes hitters drove in at least one run, led by Coleman Calabrese who hit a two-run single. Hunter Entsminger was excellent in his start, firing 5.2 shutout innings in which he collected seven strikeouts and walked none.

1. NC State (6) vs. 2 South Carolina (4)

NC State today kept rolling with a key win over South Carolina to advance to the regional final. The Wolfpack took an early lead thanks to a pair of home runs from Garrett Pennington, but the Gameco*cks would eventually tie the game in the top of the seventh inning thanks to a Dylan Brewer’s second home run of the night. The Pack scraped across a pair of runs between the seventh and eighth innings, and Derrick Smith slammed the door with four strikeouts across 1.2 shutout innings. NC State has not advanced to a super regional since 2021.

Friday Games

1. NC State (9) vs. 4. Bryant (2)

NC State overcame a slow start to take down Bryant. The Bulldogs struck first in the second inning, but the Pack scored three runs in the bottom of the third and never looked back. Alec Makarewicz paced the offense, going 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs. Sam Highfill turned in a quality start to the tune of two runs across six innings, but Jacob Dudan was sensational in relief and put a stranglehold on the game with 3 shutout, hitless innings in which he racked up six strikeouts.

2. South Carolina (8) vs. 3. James Madison (7), 10 innings

The Gameco*cks erased two separate three-run deficits en route to an extra-inning win. With their squad trailing 4-1 in the fifth inning, Will Tippett and Blake Jackson both blasted home runs to tie the game. However, the Dukes responded in the sixth with a three-run inning of their own thanks to a Brendan O’Donnell RBI single and a Fenwick Trimble two-run double. James Madison took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but with South Carolina down to its last out the red-hot Cole Messina hammered a game-tying, two-run home run out to left field. Following a scoreless 10th inning by Chris Veach (4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K), Will Tippett hit a walk-off sac-fly to lift South Carolina to victory.

Saturday Games

2. San Diego (7) vs. 4. Fresno State (5), Fresno State eliminated

San Diego withstood a four-run fifth inning by the Bulldogs and hung on for a 7-5 win. Jakob Christian got the scoring started with a two-run home run—his 25th of the season—in the top of the first inning, but the story of the game for the Toreros was their bullpen. Austin Smith struggled a bit in his start, but Vaughn Maureter (1 IP) and Alex Schrier (3 IP, 4 K) picked him up with four-straight shutout innings to seal the victory.

1. UCSB vs. 2 Oregon — 10 ET

Friday Games

1. UC Santa Barbara (9) vs. 4. Fresno State (6)

After being held in check through the first three innings, Santa Barbara used a four-run third inning to propel itself to a win over Fresno State. Jessada Brown went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, while Aaron Parker went 5-for-5 with a home run of his own. Newly minted Big West Pitcher of the Year Ryan Gallagher surrendered one earned run across 5.2 innings and Matt Ager notched his 11th save. Oregon and UCSB played each other early this season, and the Ducks will look to avenge their series loss.

2. San Diego (4) vs. 3. Oregon (5), 11 innings

Oregon withstood a San Diego comeback attempt and outlasted the Toreros 5-4 in 11 innings. The Ducks had a 4-1 lead in the eighth inning, but San Diego slugger Jakob Christian crushed a three-run home run out to the opposite field to tie the game. The score remained tied at four until the 11th inning, where Bryce Boettcher blasted the game-winning home run. Logan Mercado dazzled for the Ducks in relief, allowing just one hit across four shutout innings.

2. Nebraska (7) vs. 4 Niagara (5), Niagara eliminated

Nebraska overcame an early 4-0 deficit to stave off elimination. The Cornhuskers were held without a hit through the first two innings, but Dylan Carey led off the third with a single before Case Sanderson blasted a three-run home run. With the game tied at five, Nebraska took the lead for good in the sixth inning on a run-scoring E1. Sanderson led the offense with four RBIs, but Gabe Swansen went 2-for-5 with two home runs. Freshman lefthander Jalen Worthley was lights out in relief and slammed the door with three shutout innings.

1. Oklahoma State (7) vs. 3 Florida (1)

Oklahoma State powered its way to an impressive win over Florida. The Cowboys blasted five home runs—including two courtesy of Nolan Schubart—and Brian Holiday allowed just two hits and collected 10 strikeouts in a complete-game effort. Florida tomorrow has a rematch with Nebraska, while Oklahoma State is seeking its first super regional appearance since 2019.

1. Oklahoma State (19) vs. 4. Niagara (7)

Plenty of No. 1 seeds eked out tough wins Friday, but Oklahoma State didn’t need to sweat much. The Cowboys thumped Niagara behind Nolan Schubart’s 22nd homer of the season and a monster night from center fielder Zach Ehrhard, who went 3-for-3 with a homer and two doubles while scoring five times.

2. Nebraska (2) vs. 3. Florida (5)

Florida entered the tournament as one, if not the most dangerous No. 3 seed in the field, and today it proved exactly why with a 5-2 win over Big Ten tournament champion Nebraska. Cade Kurland (2-for-5) set the tone with a lead-off home run off of Cornhuskers’ ace Brett Sears, but Nebraska evened the score in the bottom half of the inning on a Gabe Swansen RBI double. The Gators took the lead for good in the third inning on a two-run double courtesy of Ashton Larson, who today collected three RBIs and a career-high four hits. Liam Peterson (5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 7 K) turned in a strong start, while Fisher Jameson (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) and Brandon Neely (2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K) sealed the victory with 3.2 consecutive shutout innings.

Saturday Games

2. Alabama (0) vs. 4 Stetson (4), Alabama eliminated

Stetson received fantastic pitching and timely hitting in its shut out win over Alabama. Newly minted Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Kyle Jones (2-for-4) hit a lead-off home run, while Isaiah Barkett drove in two runs to pace the offense. The tandem of Aric McAtee (4.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K) and Anthony DeFabbia (4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) silenced the Crimson Tide’s bats.

1. Florida State (5) vs. 3. UCF (2)

Florida State’s star power on both sides of the baseball prevailed tonight, as it took down UCF 5-2. Star sophom*ore Jamie Arnold was dominant in his outing and allowed two runs on three hits with 12 strikeouts across seven innings, while potential first-rounder Cam Smith went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. The Golden Knights loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Arnold induced a double play and another groundout to maneuver out of trouble. Brennen Oxford was outstanding in relief and struck out four in two shutout innings.

Friday Games

1. Florida State (7) vs. 4. Stetson (2)

Florida State took care of business against Stetson and cruised to a 7-2 win. Max Williams set the tone for the Seminoles with a lead-off home run, while Alex Lodise paced the offense with a sun-aided two-run double and three RBIs. On the mound, Carson Dorsey allowed just one earned run across a career-best 8.2 innings.

2. Alabama (7) vs. 3. Central Florida (8)

UCF took down Alabama 8-7 in a back-and-forth, tightly-contested game. The Crimson Tide erased four different Golden Knights leads, but were unable to put together one more rally in the bottom of the ninth inning. Andrew Sundean played the hero for UCF, as in the top of the ninth he came in off the bench and delivered a pinch-hit, game-winning RBI single into centerfield. Jack Zyska also had a great day for the Golden Knights, going 2-for-4 with a two-run double and three RBIs. Kris Sosnowski was nails in relief and slammed the door with two shutout innings.

Tucson Regional

Saturday Games

1. Arizona (0) vs. 2 Dallas Baptist (7), Arizona eliminated

Arizona became the first No. 1 seed to be knocked out after an underwhelming showing on its own field. Dallas Baptist today was led by Tom Poole, who went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs. Jaron DeBerry (6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 6 K) spearheaded the Patriots’ shut out effort, and a trio of arms followed with shutout innings of their own.

3. West Virginia vs. 4 Grand Canyon — 10 ET

Friday Games

1. Arizona (4) vs. 4. Grand Canyon (9)

Move over, Greenville, because there’s another regional with some chaos in mind. Grand Canyon joined West Virginia in the Tucson winner’s bracket after soundly beating the Wildcats 9-4. Tyler Wilson belted his 17th homer, Grant Richardson gutted through six innings and the Lopes received an excellent outing from Isaac Lyons in relief. We highlighted Arizona as a potential regional host on upset alert, and it now faces No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist with its season on the line.

2. Dallas Baptist (1) vs. 3. West Virginia (4)

The Tucson Regional is arguably the toughest in the entire field, and West Virginia notched a critical 4-1 win to put itself in the winner’s bracket. The Mountaineers got to DBU ace Ryan Johnson for four runs across 5.2 innings, as Logan Sauve (2-for-4) blasted a three-run home run and Reed Chumley (2-for-4) hit an RBI double. Bulldog southpaw Derek Clark allowed only one run on four hits with 8 strikeouts in what was a complete-game effort.
